Why we collect them
The

purposes and in accordance with the following legal bases:
- Contract
-
Skroutz processes your data in order to be able to offer you the
Skroutz Services you choose to use, such as registering a new
member and managing your account, managing your "Save",
"Favorite", "I have it" options, submitting and managing your
queries, reviews, comments and images through our website/app, including
the use of special online contact forms; the service of your order
with the "Skroutz Cart", including the management of changes /
returns, the information on the progress of your order with the
"Skroutz Cart" via Facebook Messenger if you explicitly choose it,
the calculation of the pricing of the collaborating stores
depending on the visits to their websites or the purchases you
choose to make, as well as providing telephone or electronic
service and support to our users.
This includes the contractually necessary recording of calls to our
users' call center, when you submit a request related to your order in the
"Skroutz Cart" and which we may need to be able to prove, as well as
recording of calls in the context of placing telephone orders.
- Legitimate Interest
-
It is in Skroutz's legitimate interest to carry out checks to
prevent fraud against transactions or malicious use of the Skroutz
Services, as well as for the smooth operation and security of its
systems, to confirm the authenticity of registered users (e.g. in
order to submit comments and ratings that correspond to reality),
to analyze consumer trends and user profiles for internal research and
development purposes, and to addresses suggestions for answering another
user's question or product / partner store reviews to specific
users.
In particular, in
the context of the aforementioned checks to prevent fraud, it is in
Skroutz's legitimate interest to request and receive from you
and/or directly from the merchant partners (or to process already
existing) evidence of transactions
(receipts, payments, shipments, returns, cancellations, refunds, etc.) made
by Skroutz users through the respective websites of the merchant
partners. In this way, the timely detection and legal treatment of
fraud or misuse of the Skroutz Services by users and/or partners
of Skroutz is facilitated, with the goal of protecting both the
proper functioning of the market and the reputation of Skroutz.
Also, regarding our registered users, based on the legislation on
electronic communications, we have a legitimate interest in sending
satisfaction surveys and other general or personalized promotional
communication, through various channels, such as e-mail,
SMS/Viber/Whatsapp message, push notification in the Skroutz App
and through advertisements on social media. To achieve this,
we process your contact details (e-mail address, phone number, IP address),
advertising identifiers, as well as your profile and purchase details in an
automated manner. You can activate or deactivate such promotional communication
or select the communication channels you want, either through the settings
in your profile (as a registered user), or simply by selecting "unsubscribe"
in the respective electronic communication, or through any other
customized unsubscribe method that is provided free of charge and
easily.
In addition, for our
registered users who, in the context of their purchases through the Skroutz
Cart, choose the supplementary microlending service "Instalments for All"
through National Bank of Greece or Alpha Bank or TBI Bank or Klarna
Bank AB, we have a legitimate interest in receiving limited
information on the progress of the loan (application, repayment) by
the cooperating banking institution, as we assume increased
responsibilities towards this banking institution, regarding the
full repayment of the microloan. With regard to the microlending service
"Instalments for All" through TBI Bank, we have a legitimate interest
in sending TBI Bank and Klarna Bank AB information about the
expression of interest of each prospective buyer (application number,
detailed contents of the order to be borrowed, total order amount,
email address), but also to notify any withdrawal. This
information facilitates the evaluation and conclusion of the loan agreement
between the prospective acquirer and Klarna Bank AB, as well as the
processing of the relevant refunds in case of withdrawal. In
addition, we receive from TBI / Klarna Bank AB limited information
about the progress of any withdrawal request (order amount, application number, refund confirmation),
so that we can also initiate the completion of the relevant
purchase return process. In this regard, it is in Skroutz's
legitimate interest to offer this Service to limited categories of
products and users, based on objective criteria, such as type,
number and frequency of purchases through the Skroutz Cart, in order
to reduce the risk of exposure of Skroutz's interests.
-
Legal Obligation
-
Skroutz is obliged by law to cooperate with the competent
authorities to combat specific incidents concerning purchases made
through our website/app and suspected of fraud, unauthorized use
or theft of a bank card, etc. We are also required by law to
manage and respond to your requests regarding the protection of your
personal data.
-
Publicly Available Data
-
Through the use of the functions of submitting reviews, answering
other users' queries, etc., each user acknowledges that the
information he gives, and which may reveal his personal preferences,
habits or even sensitive personal health data, is obviously made
public by him for this purpose. Therefore, Skroutz, relying on this
voluntary act of disclosure on behalf of users, processes this
data for the above purposes.
- Consent
-
Based on your consent, we will process text, audio and/or video
data that you may choose to share with us, through the VideoAsk
functionality on the Skroutz website, in order to submit
questions, suggestions for improvement or express your interest in
participating in a Skroutz user survey as well as when you post photos
and/or videos without participating in the "Reward Program".
Also, in a limited, sample number of calls to our customer service
call center, we will ask for specific consent to record the call,
for training and quality assurance purposes of the call center,
regardless of any contractually necessary recording.
In addition, if you consent to the use of technologies such as
cookies and local storage on your device, information about you is
automatically collected to offer you a personalized Skroutz
experience, to help you find what you are looking for more easily,
to analyze our traffic, as well as for commercial use by our partners.

Web page
More information on how we use tools such as cookies on our website can
be found in the
Skroutz Cookie Policy,
as well as in the examples
"Skroutz Analytics – Cookies" and "Pricing of merchant
partners – Cookies" below. You can change your cookie option
and withdraw your consent at any time at the bottom of
the Skroutz Cookies Policy.
Also, during the simple search for products, you can allow
your browser to automatically notify us of your exact location (position).
We will rely on your consent to show you better search results. You can only
remove this location and withdraw your consent directly from your browser's
location privacy settings.
-
Skroutz App
In particular, if you use the Skroutz
app, more information on how we use tools such as local storage
usage can be found in the Privacy Settings of the Skroutz
app (Profile> Privacy & Terms> Privacy Settings), as well as in
the example "Skroutz App" below. You can change your choice
for these tools at any time and withdraw your consent through the
Privacy Settings of the Skroutz app.
Also, when using the Skroutz app we will ask you if you wish
to allow Skroutz access to the exact location (position) of
your device. As part of the simple product search function, this
acts as your consent, in order to show you better search
results (nearest stores and products). You can only disable this
site access authorization and withdraw your consent directly
from your device's privacy settings.
Examples
Several of the
services we provide require additional data to operate. For example, you
need to have a Skroutz account to save products or use the "Skroutz
Cart". The data you choose to share with us is collected and used to
operate our Services. Also, when you use our Services or visit other
pages that incorporate content from Skroutz, we may receive data
about you. We use this data — along with the data you share with us
— to provide our Services.
- Account details
-
You do not need to
have an account to use the Skroutz Services, however you may choose
to create an
account in order to use some of our Services — "Favorites", "Skroutz
Cart", etc. — or to write a product or partner store review. If
you choose to create a Skroutz account, we will ask you for your
email and a username. Alternatively, you can register using an
account of a third party provider (eg. Facebook,
Google+, Apple), in which case the respective username, any e-mail and
other login details, such as profile photo, will be used. The
username will appear in all your public activity, such as product
and partner store discussions and reviews. We will use your email
and mobile phone number to communicate with you and to receive
notifications (including promotional communications) from
Skroutz. You can choose which notifications you receive using your account settings
If you want to publish a review for a partner store on Skroutz, or buy
products through the "Skroutz Cart", you will also be asked for a mobile phone
number to verify your account. As part of the processing of your order, this
number is also communicated to the stores from which you buy with the "Skroutz
Cart", as well as to the transport company and only for this purpose.
Finally,
you can choose to share information such as your gender and age with
us to help us better understand our target audience and tailor our
recommendations to you.
- Public Information
-
If you want, you can publish material on Skroutz, either in the form
of a review of a partner store or product, or in the form of a
discussion, or in the form of images of yourself with a product. In any
case, this content will be available to all visitors of Skroutz. In
particular, your ratings will also be available to visitors of
partner stores that incorporate content from Skroutz and will appear
along with the username you have chosen.
- Location
-
You can choose to share an address/area with us in order to help you
choose the right product or partner store for your purchases, for example
by calculating shipping costs. This address/area does not need to
be accurate and will not be used for any other purpose by us. For
the use of certain Services, such as "Skroutz Cart", we will ask
you for an exact address, as it is necessary for the delivery of
your order that we manage.
Also, if you have allowed your
browser or device to automatically notify us of your exact location (position),
we will use this location to show you better search results and in particular
accurate results in the filter "distance" store, accurate calculation of final
price including shipping and cash on delivery costs, proximity of stores from
your area or to help you save some address in your profile.
-
Save products and
purchases
-
If you choose, you can save your favorite products or purchases at a
partner store, in your account. We may ask you via email to write a review for
one of the products you have, or send you notifications of changes (eg price
drop) to the products you have indicated that you are interested in. You can
manage your favorites or
saved orders and choose which notifications you receive
using your
account settings.
-
Save shipping / payment information
-
Shipping
details are stored for use in future orders and for calculating shipping costs
in your searches. You can view and manage your addresses in your
settings of your account.
If you choose, you can save your card details for future transactions.
In this case, the information will be stored in a secure manner with a licensed
payment service provider.
- Skroutz App
-
Instead of navigating through the Skroutz website, you can
download the Skroutz app on your Android or iOS mobile device.
-
Link
You do not need to be a registered user to use the Skroutz app,
however many of its features are only available for registered
users (e.g. shopping cart, note as "Favorite", etc.). You can log
in to your existing registered user account, via Facebook,
Google, Skroutz, or Apple, if you have an iOS device. In cases
of connection through a third party provider, the
corresponding username, any e-mail and other login details,
such as profile photo, will be used.
As a logged in user, whether you use the Skroutz Services
through our website or through the Skroutz app, your searches,
saved addresses, "Favorites", filters, cart content, etc., are
stored in your profile, so that you can continue your
purchases and searches seamlessly from the website to the Skroutz
app and vice versa.
-
Access to location
When using the Skroutz app, we will ask you if you wish to
allow Skroutz access to the exact location (position) of your device.
As a result, we will be able to show you products and stores
that are closer to you.
Also, if you use features such as purchasing with the "Skroutz Cart",
the store "distance" filter, saving an address in your profile
or you want to know the exact calculation of the final price
of a product, including shipping costs, we will necessarily
need to know your address, so we will ask for your
authorization to automatically receive access to the exact location (position)
of your device, unless you have already given us such authorization.
When you give us such authorization, we do not permanently
track your current location, but only receive it at the
specific time when it needs to be automatically
filled in one of the fields above and only for this purpose.
Alternatively, you
can of course enter your address manually where needed.
-
Logging tools
In the
vast majority of websites (including ours), cookies are used to
personalize content, analyze traffic, etc. On the contrary,
apps (including the Skroutz app) do not use cookies to achieve
these personalization and analysis purposes, but other types
of tools, such as the use of local storage.
As soon as you first open the Skroutz app, we will inform you
about the use of these tools and ask for your consent to
activate those that are not necessary for the operation of the
app. You can at any time be informed in detail and / or change your
choice through the Privacy Settings of the Skroutz app (Profile>
Privacy & Terms> Privacy Settings), even if you are not logged into
your account or do not even have a registered user account.
As some pages within the Skroutz app technically open as web
pages, cookies may also be placed in your preferred browser. For any
Skroutz cookies we refer you to the detailed update of Skroutz's
cookie policy.
For the rest, the Skroutz app also applies to what is generally mentioned
in the whole of this policy.
- Skroutz's Cart
-
If you choose to use the "Skroutz Cart", we
will also ask you for your mobile phone number to confirm your account,
your credit or debit card details, as well as the shipping details (full postal
address, name, contact details) for the products you want to buy. Your
card details are securely transmitted to a licensed payment service
provider in order to make the payment and are not stored in Skroutz.
In order to be able to process your order, we share the shipping
details with the transport company and with the partner store that
is going to execute the order, while the content of your order is
shared only with the partner store. If you request a refund for an
order that has been paid by cash on delivery, then we will need an additional
IBAN of a bank account, the name of the beneficiary and possibly a relevant
receipt/photo of these details, in order to safely deposit your money.
- Skroutz Analytics - Cookies
-
-
What it is
Some Skroutz partners use the Skroutz Analytics functionality,
which is based on cookies. When you go from Skroutz to a partner
store that has activated the Skroutz Analytics service, if you have
previously given your consent to the "Performance" cookies in
Skroutz.gr and then you have given your consent to the website
of the partner store, browsing data about your session and any
purchases in that store are transmitted to Skroutz.
-
How to opt out
In order not to participate in the collection of browsing data
and subsequent export of statistics through Skroutz Analytics,
it is sufficient that you either do not consent from the
beginning to the "Performance" cookies on the Skroutz.gr or on
the website of the partner store. You can also modify any
consent already given in Skroutz.gr for the future, at the bottom
of Skroutz's
cookie policy
. There you can see in detail in the
category "Performance" exactly which cookies we and our
partners use in the context of Skroutz Analytics.
-
Purpose
The purpose of Skroutz Analytics is to produce analyses and sales
statistics based on the store, the product and each category.
This helps us both develop and improve our Services by
analyzing user interaction with them, and our merchant
partners, who get an insight into the popularity of their products
and the efficiency of their website. For this reason of the common
purposes and means of processing, and only with regard to the
elements of Skroutz Analytics described below, we are
considered by law as Joint Data Controllers with each merchant
partner, with whom we sign special contractual clauses for the
protection of personal data. In any case, we kindly ask you to address any
request regarding the use of this technology to us, as the competent
communication channel.
-
What is recorded
The browsing events recorded — and only if the user has
previously given consent to the "Performance" cookies on the
Skroutz.gr and on the partner store's website — are the transition
from Skroutz to a partner store, visits to pages of the
partner store, the purchase of specific products and its
details (order number, amount, products, payment method,
shipping, etc.), browsing time, IP address, data relating to each
device
(such as operating system version, app or web connection, browser version),
as well as any identifiers/keywords for improving the service (meta-tags).
The above is linked to a random user and/or order ID, which
does not directly identify the user for Skroutz.
The information of a user that we receive from partner
websites in the above way, may be directly associated with that user's
Skroutz account (Skroutz username), only after his own specific action (e.g.
"Save my order to Skroutz").
Otherwise, data collected through Skroutz Analytics may be
considered personal data by applicable data protection laws, as it can
theoretically identify a user (although they do not directly identify them).
For this reason, faithful to our values for the maximum
protection of our users, they are treated by us in any case
and in their entirety as personal data and we apply to them
all appropriate technical and organizational security measures.
-
How long do we keep them
The cookies used for collecting browsing data for the functionality
of Skroutz Analytics are deleted within a short period (in
15 days),
according to the commonly accepted practices of sales
acquisition, i.e., recognizing a visit and/or purchase on a
partner's website as our referral. This data is retained for a
period of up to two (2) years and then anonymized (meaning it is
no longer considered personal data by law) and remains as statistical
information in Skroutz's systems. In this context, we may
share information publicly to show trends regarding the
general use of our services.
-
Merchant Partner Pricing - Cookies
-
-
How it works
The Skroutz Services are funded by receiving a fee from the
partner merchants. To make this possible, various models of
charging partners are used, including the Mixed CPC/CPS Charging
Model, in which the charge is made either per click (referral
to its website) or with commission on sales, depending on the
category of products, as well as depending on the specific
Skroutz Service, i.e. product search and user referral to a
merchant partner's website, Skroutz’s Cart, etc. In this
context, the transaction data of the user using the Skroutz
Services are also processed by us for billing purposes of the
Services, based on the existing trading relationship of users
(registered or not) with us, in accordance with the Terms of Use of our
Services.
-
Mixed Charging Model CPC/CPS
In particular, in case the partner billing model for referring
a user to its website is the Mixed CPC/CPS Charging Model, in
which the charge is made -depending on the product category- either
per click or with a commission on sale, the calculation of the charge
will be partially done with a relevant record of the user's
purchase (as well as his session to it, for documentation
purposes), through cookies. In this case, these cookies are
considered by us to be Necessary in order to continue to provide our
Services to users, being the only way to reliably calculate and settle our
relevant charges and commissions to partners, as they arise from
the use of our Services. For this reason, these cookies
operate without your consent. In our
cookie policy
you can see in detail in the category "Necessary" exactly
which cookies we and our partners use in the context of
invoicing charges and commissions from your purchases.
In view of the common purpose and means of processing, and
only with respect to the billing calculation elements in the
CPC/CPS Mixed Billing Model described below, we are considered by
law as Joint Data Controllers with each merchant partner, with
whom we sign specific contractual privacy clauses. In any
case, we kindly ask you to address any request regarding the
use of this technology to us, as the competent communication
channel.
-
What is recorded
What is recorded The purchase events (and session to it)
recorded are the transition from Skroutz to a partner store, visits
to pages of the partner store, the purchase of specific
products and its details (order number, amount, products,
payment method, etc.), browsing time, IP address, data
relating to each device (such as the version of the operating system, The
connection via app or web, its browser version, for technical support
and debugging of the billing model). The above is linked to an order
ID, which does not directly identify the user for Skroutz. For
other categories of data collected by Skroutz when the Skroutz
Analytics service is also enabled, see the example above.
The information of a user that we receive from partner websites
in the above way, may be directly associated with that user's Skroutz
account
(Skroutz username), only after his own specific action (e.g. "Save
my order to Skroutz").
Otherwise, data collected under the CPC/CPS Mixed Billing Model
may be considered personal data by applicable data protection
laws, as it can identify a person (although they do not directly
identify them). For this reason, faithful to our values for
the maximum protection of our users, they are treated by us in
any case and in their entirety as personal data and we apply to
them all appropriate technical and organizational security measures.
-
Relationship with Skroutz Analytics
Please note that the CPC/CPS Mixed Billing
Model operates in parallel and partially independently of Skroutz Analytics.
That is, when you have not given your consent to the "Performance" cookies on
the Skroutz.gr and on the website of the partner store, any purchases you make
on the merchant partner's website will be recorded only for the purpose of
calculating and invoicing the relevant commission, through the "Billing"
Necessary cookies and not for purposes of analysis, production of statistics,
etc. However, if you have given your consent to the "Performance" cookies on the
Skroutz.gr and on the website of the partner store, any purchases you make on
the merchant partner's website will be recorded both for the purpose of
calculating and pricing the relevant commission, as well as for purposes of
analysis, production of statistics, etc., through the "Skroutz Analytics" Performance cookies.
-
How long do we keep them?
The browsing data collected by Skroutz through cookies in view
of the Mixed CPC/CPS Billing Model is considered by Skroutz as
contractual personal data, capable of proving the transaction and
supporting any legitimate claims of Skroutz. For this reason, this
data will be retained for a maximum of five (5) years by Skroutz.
This data will then be completely deleted or anonymized (i.e. it
will no longer be considered personal data by law).
- B2B Contact
-
If you wish to contact a B2B partner store by submitting a query
through Skroutz's special contact form ("Request information"), you will be asked for an e-mail (self-filling,
if you are logged in to your account) and in free text, the content
of your query. Optionally, you can also fill in your name and any
company you represent.
The usefulness of mandatory data is to enable the B2B partner
store to contact you back, while optional information is to allow
the B2B partner store to have a better and more direct picture of
your query. For these purposes and in the context of providing and
billing the Skroutz Services you choose, the above data is collected
and further processed by us, including its transmission to the
relevant B2B partner store.
After completing this special contact form of Skroutz, you will receive
from us a confirmation e-mail for the submission of your question and
then direct communication from the partner B2B store, to which you
submitted your question.
- Call recording
-
When you call us to our customer service call center regarding
your order through the "Skroutz Cart", you receive information from us
that part of your call may be recorded for proof of transaction purposes.
That is, the call is not recorded in every case, but only if we
detect that you are verbally submitting to us a request that is
important for your order (e.g. change of postal address,
cancellation, etc.), so that we can prove what was agreed
verbally, in case of dispute. When you need to start recording,
you will be informed by our competent representative and you will
hear the characteristic sound.
If you do not wish your voice to be recorded, you can always choose to
contact us in writing, through the available contact form.
Also, in a limited, sample number of calls to our customer service
call center, we will ask for specific consent to record the call,
for training and quality assurance purposes of the call center.
That is, regardless of the above possible contractually necessary
recording, if you explicitly allow us to do so, we will record your
entire call to help our employees and partners become even better when
serving users by phone, by playing good and bad service examples.
Finally, in cases where you place a telephone order through the
special telephone line, you are informed that your call will be
recorded for the purpose of proving transactions.
- Automated processing
-
We use automated processing methods, including profiling for our
users, but this does not have legal (or similar) significant
consequences. For example, once you have accepted Preference cookies
on Skroutz, we will show you personalized product recommendations, recently
viewed products, etc. on our website.
Accordingly, as long as you have not unsubscribed from our
promotional communications and based on your region, account
profile and purchases, we will send to your email and/or other
communication channels enabled in your profile settings, shopping suggestions
on Skroutz that may be of interest to you.
We also use automated means to analyze
consumer trends, as well as the profile of our users, for internal research and
development purposes.
- VideoAsk
-
Within some of the pages of the Skroutz website, we have
integrated the VideoAsk functionality. You'll find an icon with our
videos greeting you and asking for your opinion and feedback, like if
you found what you're looking for. You can respond to us with your
video, audio message or plain text to give us your opinion and
feedback in a more interactive way. In this option, there is no
way to identify you directly and we do not have the ability to
contact you back.
On some other pages of the Skroutz website, you will find a
similar icon with our videos greeting you and inviting you to
volunteer in a Skroutz user survey. In this case, you can respond to
us with your video, audio message or plain text to indicate your
interest in participating, and we will additionally ask for a
