Andreas Pittas. Doctor, pharmaceutical industrialist, collector, quiet and modest poet. He has been writing for a long time, many poems are kept in his drawer. The Poeme Mici is the third collection.
Poetry with ancient knowledge, travel-inspired, a dialogue with myth and History, from Mesopotamia to the Aegean. A traveler accompanied by verse. Tenderly romantic and at the same time a romantic lover of nature. He loves the brief poetic form. Few exceptions with multi-line poems.
For years he has been experimenting with haiku composition. A conscious effort to capture the moment, the fleeting inspiration. Often it is an expanded conscious extension of haiku that leads to his short poems.
In his ancient-mythical poetic compositions, he sets up a dialogue with the characters of his literary arsenal, with the ancient lyric poets, with Sappho and also Homer, as in “The Castaway”:
Muse, oh tell us
how Odysseus felt
as he left
Calypso’s embrace
and fell naked shipwrecked to his knees
almost a suppliant
before the beautiful
Nausicaa.
